Demand for Stamp Duty Holiday to be extended for properties sold STC

Research has shown an overwhelming demand for the current stamp Duty Holiday to be extended for all people that are in the process of buying a property but are not due to complete by the current deadline.

A new petition started last year requested for this deadline to be moved to September this year. Currently the existing deadline date still stands.

With increasing signatures and pressure on the government it is believed by some an announcement to extend the current deadline would not be a surprise and welcomed. If the scheme is to be extended the most popular compromise by a poll taken is for the Stamp Duty Holiday only be extended for those who are currently going through the process of purchasing a property but are yet to complete.

Other figures (21.6%) from the poll showed it is felt the scheme should only continue for first time buyers. Lastly, 5.8% of the poll revealed that they believe the scheme should be extended with alternative conditions in place.

Data has shown a 49% increase on enquiries for properties for sale between £400,000 and £500,000. The general consensus is a need for the current deadline to be extended to help finalise current property purchases using the scheme.
